Experienced in disaster relief, heritage tourism, nonprofit management, and Main Street, she brings 20+ years of proactive leadership in community development. Previously named among The 25 Most Influential Latino Leaders in the Chicago Land, Norma was honored with a Proclamation from the City of Elgin for successfully building one of the largest and most diverse Downtown revitalization programs in Illinois.
Norma developed the National Trust Main Street Center’s diversity services, promoting initiatives that increase understanding on the process of involvement and business approach of multi-cultural communities. She is also involved in fostering international collaboration with organizations and governments implementing the Main Street Approach in Taiwan, Mexico, and Panama.
Norma is a regular national and state-wide conference speaker. Her sessions are filled with motivation and down to earth strategies for recognizing community’s assets, building proactive community engagement, and strengthening the local economies. Norma also serves as faculty for community revitalization training for NeighborWorks America.
